In the past few blog posts we've talked about resolutions and what you must do, and making lists to jumpstart your marketing and even making more than one list. But what if making lists just isn't your style?
You know the sinking feeling of looking at that unending list and every day it gets longer than the day before. Well, what if you don't have to do that anymore? I came across an intriguing article that gives an alternative: It's a way to visualize your goals by painting a picture of it. Read the article here.
But what if I can't draw? That's the first question that popped in my mind while I read the article. My drawings just wouldn't motivate me, actually they would have the opposite effect -- so back to listmaking!
Fortunately there are many sites that offer high-quality stock images. My favorite is Picapp where you can search by keyword and choose creative or editorial images (of live-coverage photos).
Another image site is stock.exchng however, not all images are free, but search until you find one without the embedded logo. And then there's the old reliable Microsoft image site -- make sure you choose photos only. The clip art, like my drawings, won't motivate.
So at last you've found the perfect image that represents your goal, but if you're anything like me, you may have many goals. Wouldn't it be fun to have them all in one place to view everyday?
Yes, I'm talking about a vision board. Oprah and The Secret recently made vision boards popular again for manifesting our desires. You can learn how to make a vision board from scratch. I prefer to do a Google image search and printing the images out and pasting on a poster board. You can see examples of finished vision boards here.
While you are busy adding all aspects of your life on your vision board -- don't forget to add what you want to achieve for your business. Use a globe with people around it to represent a global audience for your business or for your book!
Use a number, like 500, to represent the friends you want to have on your Facebook site or Twitter. Use Alt+prtScrn on your computer keyboard to take a snapshot of your website and paste it on a blank page in Word. Add tons of arrows representing incoming links. Or better yet a traffic jam next to your website's image. Be creative and have fun.
